There are many memory supplements for sale on the market today. Below you will find some of the most common and effective: biotin, docosahexaenoic acid and vitamin E. Let’s see what they are, what they do, the recommended dosage and their side effects. They can be a valuable aid to your body, as long as you have all the information you need to take them.

Among the most useful nutrients in the brain is biotin, which is usually found in foods such as fruit, meat and vegetables. Biotin is an important ingredient in memory supplements because a deficiency weakens memory. Biotin is a significant memory supplement that should always be present in the body. This is because it increases the effectiveness of mitochondria in the brain, which in turn increases brain performance. Mitochondria, in fact, are very important sources of energy for the brain and a lack of biotin compromises the beneficial effects. Deficiency The deficiency develops mainly as a result of conditions that predispose you as:

  • taking certain prescription drugs
  • exposing you to pollutants
  • pregnancy and other conditions.

In the brain not having enough biotin causes adverse effects. Recommended dosage Recommended dosage is 350 micrograms per day. Side effects
The most common side effects are explosions of acne in the jaws and chin line. The cause is unknown, and they often decrease after a few weeks. Those who take these supplements have also reported a reduction in acne by keeping the dosage at 2500 mcg or less. For each person the frequency of acne is different.
Life threatening side effects are very rare. The only case reported is that of a woman who has experienced a dangerous condition related to her chest and lungs known as eosinophilic pleuropericardial effusion. She ingested a large amount of biotin along with vitamin B5. She recovered after she stopped using these vitamins. It is not known whether it was due to biotin, B5 or a combination of the two.

Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA)

Docosahexaenoic acid is another useful nutrient for the brain and a memory supplement. DHA is an omega-3 fat that is normally found in fish oil. More than 60% of the weight of the human brain comes from fat because most of the fatty acids are concentrated in the brain. All long omega-3 chains are preserved as DHA. This is mainly because the brain needs high levels of DHA to transfer information through the synapse membrane. DHA also helps the retina to receive visual information. Without DHA, brain cells cannot perform several functions optimally. DHA is therefore a valuable nutrient that you should always take. However, it is difficult to maintain the required levels of DHA in the body at all times. DHA memory supplements ensure that the brain is continuously supplied with DHA, thus ensuring maximum brain function. Dosage A study of adults 55 years of age and older who took 900 mg of DHA daily for six weeks compared to those who took placebo showed that this improves memory and learning abilities.
